b. What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
a. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner
Part 2:
i liked the picture of a basketball game that was in black and white. it was very different  than most basketball photos because one subject was on the ground against another person. I do think that when it comes to editing a picture, that it better to go through each option b/c even though a black&white filter is nice, It just didn't fir in w/ the sport. So do agree w/ them on that.
2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong.  i disagree with the judges on th first photo on the second video which is of a race car. i liked that is showed how fast the car was moving. they didt think the photo had much going for it. Personally i like pictures like that b/c it bring out the way a photographer know how to use the camera settings and how it bring out the affection in the photograph.

e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like?
i didn't really like these pictures and there wasnt really much of a theme and it was all over the place

e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like?

i liked that a lot of pictures had shadows or silhouettes.

the judges noted the good color compositions and that the photographer got to the level of what he was photographing like laying on th floor.

i thought that all the different angles were strengths and that a weakness would be that some were staged photos.

they vetoed ones out one by one

made sure to not put one fore second place
it was either pass or fail
looked for themes
looked at the skills of the editors

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.       o

Merger photo preview.

1.One problem would be that the fence at he left side of the photo kind of starts to vanish, as in its not kept straight.

2. A good location in the bowie campus would be in the court yard in front of the big tree or even in the front of the school.

3. Something creative would be as if I'm walking or even walking up or down the stairs i the hallway.

4. Honestly wear what ever you want, i personally don't care. Slog long as the photos are clear and make sense.

My opinion story.

Singer-songwriter, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (aka. Lana Del Rey) who's from Lake Placid, New York has never had it easy in the music industry. Yet it did take her a while to find her fame over the vintage slow/ hip hop inspired music of hers.

Lana has had a tough life while growing up in, she's been sent to boarding school because of her alcoholic abuse as a teenager. Now everyones not perfect but it shows that people the turn there lives around.

Over the courses of years Lana began writing her own music and performed in night clubs/venues under the name of 'Lizzy Grant'. Her music was little more darker in my opinion but it was all for the aesthetic. She was later signed to an independent record company which later took a while to produce lana first album and later got shelved.

After a while Lizzy Grant change her name to Lana Del Rey and was later signed to Interscope Records and Polydor Records. She then produced her first official album "Born To Die" in 2012 that had amazing instrumentals and vocals on it. That same year she performed on 'Saturday Night Live' (SNL) which wasn't pretty. Her performance was know as the " worst in SNL history". After this performance it wasn't certain if Lana had a career again.

After the internet cooled down Lana still had a good hand full of supporters like me stay by her side and she later produced an extended edition of her first album called 'Paradise'. After that she kind of took a break on big television shows and when smaller. she gained her fandom back and was becoming more of a known artist but still underrated.

Lana has 5 albums the third being more a stupid back version and more of an indie/alternative sound with heavier instrumentals and more vocals and an interesting story called 'Ultraviolence' (2014)
The forth album 'Honeymoon' (2015) features the same aesthetic but more of and older vintage Hollywood vibe.

Now Lana Del Rey isn't a natural performer as you may know, I've seen her live at ACL 2014 and she sounded amazing. After the SNL performance everyone put an image in there head that she just can't sing and to say that really won't matter because she already has us (her fans) that support her and stream her on spotify and buy her music on iTunes.

Now for this fifth album 'Lust for Life' which has her first features on any of her albums; including The weeknd, Sean Ono Lennon and rumored Stevie Nicks. Lana's come a long way and will continue to surprise all of us secretly.

Student of the Month:

Who- Jamie Anagnoes
what- student of the month
when-
where- James Bowie High school
why-

Jamie Anagnoes a student of James Bowie High school who won student of the month for 2017. Jamie if a freshman at Bowie and is already starting off her first year of high school really well. After the hard work and respect she had towards everyone really paid off.

At Bowie high school students and staff/ faculty vote for student of the month every year. Jamie never expected to win, she states "It feels very accomplishing". After the big win the Jamie won for student of the month, it's made her more "confident".

Bowie has always been know for nominating and later having a student of the month. I asked Jamie if she every expected to win student of the month. Her answer is what surprised us, "No, because they're are smarter people than me." I understood what she meant by that but it's not if you smart, it's about how much of a dedicated student you are.

" It feels really special because everyone's praising you." Even though Jamie is still in shock after winning, she is enjoying the attention.

After winning student of the month there really isn't type of royalty after the whole win. Being student of the month has some pressure for the winners every time. Jamie says that there's 'more pressure to do good and better." especially after the month is over.

Jamie wasn't all for being student of the month but her family was all for it. In fact her "family" forces her too. After the win she had to thank her family because of them she a better person.

opinion writing part 2. (Personal Essay)

1. A couple of things that you can use is more personal prespective by that i mean there can be a mix of facts and personal. Another thing that you can start is making connections on the essay and what it's about and having a hook that bring in the read and gets there full attention

2.One thing would be leaving the opinion aside w/ statistics. Now opinions are good as long as they make a connection. Generalizations should be no where near the essay. There should only be facts and just a alit bit of opinion if they make sense w/ the topic and helps.

3 No extra points for the number of facts you include. Academic essays contain more facts than opinion, personal essays contain more opinion than facts. But ensure the facts you use are accurate. Check names, spellings, numbers. Two sources of confirmation are better than one.

Writing essays in a great way to get your opinions off your chest, but avoid philosophical rants which make no connection to your reader’s experience. Again, keep it personal while relating to a wider world.

Take your ideas from wherever you can. Note your reactions to everything, pursue passing preoccupations and distractions, consider what makes you, glad, angry, passionate in what you read, see and hear. Mine your own past for incidents, images, lessons and epiphanies.

4. Blur.
1. Running.

2. Running across the plane.
3.Panning.

Front Pages of the World.

1. My favorite front page news paper would have to be the ones from Texas. I looked at the ones from both Austin and Forth Worth. The front pages seemed to be more about the community and about whats happening on the political side of things.
2. One of mu favorite headlines on the Austin paper would be "refugee students find a safe haven in Austin", I just felt that it would have to be about the positivity and opportunity the children got. The other paper about Forth Worth also had a good headline "Immigrants hide, fearing capture on 'any corner'." Now this headline did speak to me in a personal way b/c I come from a family that's more than have immigrant. So for a story thats about the community is always interesting.
3. Forth Worth has 3 stories.
Austin has 4 stories.
4. The 2 news papers have kind of the same design. They also both talk about the same stories, they talk about the community that they  are surrounded by. For example the different cultures like hispanics and refugees that are having some of the problem in the country at the moment.
5. Both news papers have a similar layout type there are some different things like photos. The pics. do have different sixes and extra short stories previews.

A7- The story in the newspaper was about love and how you should experience it when your young. Clearly being in love isn't really serious when your in school but it can if both are committed. It also talks about how its ups and downs and having mixed feeling. Even at eh same time that theres protest about sexuality and preferences, its a good message. Sometimes you just have to accept it. The article also has quotes of 9th, 10th,11th,12th and a teacher on what they think of love. And they all say go for it, it takes time to find true love and to get used to the word "no".

Who?  Everyone, young people.
What?  How to find love and how it affects you as a young person. Even emotions.
Where?  Everywhere. It doesn't matter where.

Warm-up: sensory overload.

1. I believe that the statement talks about how the modern day cities use different objects for there building to define how they look and even the colors can do the same think.
1a. I would have to agree the statement b/c it's kind of true on how, just cause theres tall building, its the shapes they use .
1b. As a aspiring photographer i would have to say that i completely understand what they're trying to say. If your doing a project and it has a theme then you would what everything to add up. Not just having completely different things that don't make sense. So i think that the best to do.
1c. Honestly i really didn't really know what to expect. After seeing the photos, they made me kind of want to be there at that right moment. I think its cause of the clarity and colors that they showed.
1d. If i was a child to someone who worked there, I really wouldn't know that much about. Its kind of different from seeing a pic of them to basically putting yourself in there shoes. Now i don't think that it would be a good life.
1e. My favorite photo from the website has 3 people in it and its a pretty bright room with product everywhere you look. It has about 2 of the people resting there head like if they're tired/bored. Back to products, There are stuffed animals on one side and a whole bunch of santa clauses on the other side and hanging balloons. Its my favorite b/c of the colors and how the peoples reactions in it means something.

Self Portrait vs the Selfie

What is a selfie?
What is a self portrait?
What style do you prefer?
Is one more valuable/ important than the other? Why?

A selfie is usually a picture of yourself taken w/ either a smartphone or computer, or usually something that ends up being posted on social media. The majority of this generation takes selfies of themselves or w/ a group of people or family. Selfies are a type of self portrait as well but has less to do w/ the artistic perspective.

Self portraits, even thought they seem to be kind of similar to selfies they aren't taken by smartphones of computers. they can but differently. Sometimes they can even be painted in this example. They both have there pro & cons.

I really can choose either one. Only because i kind of find them similar. It just depends the purpose of why you're doing it. Now when it comes to which one is more valuable or important. I actually think that a self portrait is more in important than the selfie. Only b/c i think that self portraits have to be more difficult. B/c they can be painted .

Phobia Project

A. Phobia is a type of fear a person has. It can either be scary or cringey.

B.

  • Coulrophobia: A fear of clowns.
  • Decidophobia: The fear of making decisions.
  • Emetophobia: Fear of vomiting.
  • Hadephobia: Fear of Hell.
  • Lophobia: Fear of poison.
C. I have different idea for the phobia photo shoot. First I'm going to get something, Rather it's a person or a weird object, they both have to be cringey.  The pic. just has to be weird or unpleasant to look at. The object is for sure going to include something from the list of phobias. They're going to depend rather how they look on both horizontal and vertical. I am also thinking on having the rule of thirds and point of view (maybe). The lighting and clothing is just gonna vary w/ the objects i pick. if its an unpleasant pic. thing it might have a darker mood or maybe a good mood w/ the lighting ect.

D. A photographic technique would be Having the good lighting and getting the actual pic. of picture. basically getting the whole aspect of it on why it is what it is.
